I am thankful that I am starting to see a small change in my son that indicates his faith is beginning to grow. He is 10 years old, and though he made a profession of faith several years ago he has not been at all interested in baptism or in bible study in general. I have been concerned about these things but have been trying to encourage him without pushing. He seems more centered and calm lately, and also seems to be more open to spiritual discussions than he has been in the past. So, I am thankful for these changes and hopeful that he will begin to be more interested in his spiritual life. Blessings, Belle

Hope you feel better soon, OneJohn! Here's an on-the-spot poem for you and your throat: A scratch that's followed by a tickle Seems like your health's in a pickle Did you know you're already healing And that better soon you'll be feeling? With God we can always be thankful Upcoming energy? He'll give you a tankful! I apologize for not writing a non-rhyming poem. They're usually easier to stomach!

I am very very thankful for the message in church today. It was the final message in the series of "fearing no evil". Everything in it spoke to me and I'll be going through my week with renewed courage knowing that God will be with me in every situation that I face. I will always have fear, as I'm a fearful person, but I'm thankful for the assurance that Jesus will walk side by side with me. I'm also thankful for his answer to my prayer about giving me an opportunity to express my apology to a certain individual. I'm not sure if I ever hurt him then, but I know that God convicted me of my actions. He provided me a way to demonstrate the work that He's done in me, and also, I'm thankful that He answered this very specific request. Now, I'm thankful also because that' one less person I have to avoid when I'm out hiking or skiing, or biking.

I had a long chat with the Lord last night before bed. Lately, I've been praying mostly over the circumstances of my life - the grief of losing my husband and the changes in my life as a result of that loss. But last night I prayed simply over my relationship with Him and how, sometimes when I need it the most, I resist the comfort that only He can provide. He straightened me out, and I'm thankful for that!

I'm thankful that I was able to spend time with other believers today. Usually when I go to church, it is kind of isolating. I'm a friendly person, so I usually get to know people and they usually know me on the surface. I've been in so many churches where I love the preaching and the music - but I feel like I don't really get close to people on a personal level. I can go to bible study with them or even serve with them - or maybe even do some sort of fellowship. But I get tired of church as usual - the picnics, the potlucks, the politicking. Everything is so geared internally you know - how can I serve the people inside of my local body, how can I teach the kids here, how can I reach the women here. I don't think there is anything wrong with this - we have to do this and it blesses people. I've been blessed by ministries like these. And of course, I like to eat as much as the next person and to have fun fellowship too. This is great to do. But so many times I look around and say to myself - is this what Jesus died for? Was it for me to sit in the church kitchen, eating pasta salad or trying to figure out how to raise money for a building fund? Or going to the nursing home once a week? Again, I don't think there is anything wrong with these things at all - it is good to fellowship, we need a place to meet, we are called to help the poor, needy, and our elders. But for myself, I feel such a hunger to know and understand what Jesus is doing globally - and I want to join with people who are thinking the same way - are looking at how to pray and connect and bless - whether it is down the street or in another country. I want to see people saved and lives changed - inside and particularly outside of the church. And I want to see churches truly equip the saints in all of the gifts - not just the ones that are not controversial (like service or mercy). I want to see people released into their calls. Well, let me get to my thank you. This weekend I was blessed to meet some women who were transparent. We sat through a class together, but could just talk - people shared some things - and we prayed and just spoke to one another. Very little surfacey stuff - more deep things. It was so nice to be able to know people and to be known. And we studied the gifts together - and learned how to use them. We "practiced" using them so that we could go out - outside of the church and inside of the church and use our gifts. What a blessing! And we studied the bible. And ate together. And we talked about the end times - about the things that the Lord is doing all around the world. We prayed together. We talked about heaven and rewards and judgement - we praised and worshipped Jesus. I don't know if I'll see all of these women again, but it just ministered to me so much that I didn't want to even leave. But eventually I had to go. It was so good - but right now in the absence of all that - I'm feeling kind of sad and alone. But I'm still thankful that I've been able to have this - even if it has been for a short while.

thankful that through many trials that face, when it seems like can't make it another second, all it takes is a kind word or a smile that is meant with love or even kindness to brighten a day

It was so good - but right now in the absence of all that - I'm feeling kind of sad and alone. But I'm still thankful that I've been able to have this - even if it has been for a short while. I can relate totally with what you wrote. I too get tired of surface level relationship or fellowship where no one is willing to go deeper. I get tired of politeness and small talk. I belog to a huge church where I don't know that many people. And since there's a few services, people go at different times so I don't always see the ones that I know. Today was one of those times where I felt such a strong desire to connect with people. As I was waiting for my daughter to come out of the youth service, I observed everyone around me and I felt a bit lonely because i couldn't find a familiar face and everyone seems to be in a group. It's not like me to just go up to a group of people and join them. Well, God probably knew what I was feeling because one lady that I spoke to casually for the past two Sundays came up to me. ALl I said was how are you and she told me how difficult of a time she's having. I just listened. Then she asked if I'm still thinking of getting some people together to form a small group. I told her that I'm still praying about it, and I don't know a lot of people that are interested since we live so far from civilization, lol. She seems interested, but not in the winter because it's such a long drive (actually, it's only 30 mins and I've run the distance, so I don't consider it far but most do). Anyway, I think our friendship is beginning because she went a little deeper by trusting me with her personal struggles. I actually like her. She's a bit like me. We have a lot of things in common. And I thank God for this new friendship. Also, thankful for good night rest last night, and a nice bonding time with my daughter this afternoon. We watched the movie The Secret Life of Bees and we both totally enjoyed it, though she must think I"m such a basket case because I cried half of the time during the movie.

I'm thankful for a day to relax. I'm also thankful for friends who listen when I'm not having such a good day.
