ORIGINAL: HomeSpunLady Thank you ladies. I really need to hear this. I was all down on myself for not leaving my womb open to the Lord. OneOfHisJewels you are right that hubby is a pastor, we do have an older girl. HomeSpun lady just basically means I do a lot of home-made things and that I like my home-made 'job'. Anyway, your responses help me to make this decision easier. Well at least a little bit anyway. Still going to grieve it though. I guess that's a whole lot off topic, but thanks anyway. It's helped a lot. ((((hugs all around!)))) I have to admit, I thought you were picking a fight with your original post. I'm soooooo sorry you are hurting. I also don't understand the greiveing, but that does not mean I can't try to support you through it! And no, you will in NO way be looked down upon in this thread for not wanting to get pregnant again....whatever the reason. ((((hugs))))

Woops sorry! Didn't mean to relay that impression. Thank you Sharon too. I think part of the reason this hurts to much is that when I was pregnant I didn't think it would be my last. This has kinda blindsided me.

You in no way meant to relay that "picking a fight" impression. I'm just pretty sensitive about that, so it was TOTALLY on me! You know, God has a tendency to throw a lot of curves (or allow curves to happen) as we go through life. In this season right now, it may hurt that you are not getting the future you thought you were going to have in having more pregnancies and children. However, it seems to be the right season to say.... ....Ok God, my plan is not gonna happen. So, what is your plan? You never know how great, exciting, comforting, difficult, fulfilling His plan is for you and your family. One door closes...you should have at least a window open someplace.

ORIGINAL: HomeSpunLady Anyone in this thread NEVER want to get pregnant or get pregnant again for whatever reason? If so, how do you deal with/reason with the thought that you are prohibiting one of God's blessings? I haven't ever posted here, but I wanted to today to respond to this. I've read the following posts from everyone and agree with the overwhelming response that you have to make the best decision for your family. I think God grants us wisdom to make godly decisions about family size when we remain open to His will. We're not TTC. DH and I were of a quiverfull mindset when we married and were soon blessed with two babies in twelve months. Our little sweeties are now two and one... and we think we're done. I love my daughters, but I know my own personal limits. I've been told by several women that when my girls are older, the thought of another baby/child won't be nearly as overwhelming as it is right now, but I honestly believe that as they age, they're going to need even more attention, time, and direction. Praise God for those mommies who can effectively and excellently parent several children at once. And praise God that I've been made abundantly aware that I'm not one of them. Couldn't God bless me with the endurance, stamina, and wisdom to raise another child? I'm sure He could and am trusting that He will if He blesses us again. But I have peace with two, and I'm going to trust that peace in this area, after being bathed in prayer, is confirmation enough to plan accordingly. How do I deal with the thought that I am prohibiting God's blessings? I pray. I ask Him to change my heart, to change DH's heart, if we're making the wrong decision for our family. I ask Him to take our peace away. I honestly and fervently believe that we're not keeping God's blessings away when we're so honestly seeking His will in this. Blessings to you, HomeSpunLady. I know that this kind of decision isn't easy, especially when/if you were open to having as many children as possible. My DH is also a pastor, so I know that there tends to be (at least in some denominations and areas of the country) some judgement when a ministry family in particular chooses to do family planning. We were among those who were passing out judgement before God changed our hearts and showed us that two children are indeed His will for some families. (Or one child. Or ten. Or none at all!) I'm praying that you would have peace about your decision... and that you're enjoying your precious little newborn! How cute is he!?!

But, one thing I learned through it is that IF I do get pregnant, it won't be the end of the world. But, I'd still prefer to never experience pregnancy/childbirth. But, it is not in my hands at this point.

Yeah! That was very late. It is weird. When I am that late, I start kinda getting excited even though I know I don't want to be. Then when AF comes, total relief!

I have no clue. I thought they were only used for those TRYING to get pregnant, but I guess it could work for avoiding too!

They won't work for trying not to get pregnant. I've not used them, but from what I understand, they show when there is a change in some hormone that shows you will be ovulating in the next day or so. The problem with using them as birth control is that sperm can live for quite a while, up to 3 days, I think. So by the time you knew that you were about to ovulate, there could already be sperm present hunting for that egg.

You can use them for knowing when you ovulated for sure, so you know to keep preventing for a couple more days after the O date. That way you know if you O'd late or not.

how do ovulation prediction kits work? taken from HERE: quote:
How do ovulation tests work? At the beginning of the menstrual cycle, the body begins to produce follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). FSH facilitates the formation of a follicle on one of the ovaries. The follicle contains and nurtures the egg. When a follicle has adequately matured, a surge of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) causes the follicle to burst and release the egg into the fallopian tube - the moment of ovulation. Throughout the menstrual cycle, a small amount of LH is produced - but during the middle of the cycle LH briefly and dramatically increases. Elevated quantities of luteinizing hormone facilitate ovulation - and OPKs detect this LH surge through anti-LH antibodies contained in the sensitive testing membrane of the test. The LH surge is, alas, very brief - and in order to detect the LH surge, a woman needs to test at the right time of the month - and the right time of day. As LH is produced by the body in the morning, mid-afternoon is considered the ideal time to test

I was kind of nervous last month too - I was only a day late, but the no symptoms leading up to it made me nervous, as I always have definite PMS symptoms 3-4 days before.

nevaeh_gaze - I pulled that to the top for you. I am with you fluffmonkey. Except that I am so regular that it is weird when I am late. I also seem to forget every month how painful it is. I am always suprised it seems when the cramps and PMS are so bad. LOL! We are waiting until April, and every month ticks away so quickly.
