ORIGINAL: wareaglekd The blessing in this is realizing that something is going wrong. Many don't realize this is happening & by post, they don't have a clue. My mother is very much like this. In the early years of pre, she would see bugs all over the place. All we did was laugh at her because we didn't know any better. By the time she was post, she was in the complete throws of a mental disorder & still does not believe there is a problem. We can't get her into treatment. As for me, I always wanted to make sure I got through this okay. I had a mild breakdown a few years back (I'm 48 now) & I've been on paxil every since. Makes my life so much better. Occasionally, I find myself thinking I see bugs or something & realize it's my mind playing games. No one has to be ashamed of seeking treatment during this time of life. The body is going through some mighty different changes & we get chemically imbalanced. For your sake & for your family, it's good to look into some additional help so that this time in life will go much more smoothly. Hang in there, SecretGarden, you'll be fine. k Thank you so much for your encouragement. This is the first time since I entered this phase of life that I haven't been able to cope with the symptoms. The weird thing is it sort of hit all at once. I mean - one day I'm doing just fine with my chamomile tea and multivitamins and the next day I'm a basket case that couldn't be calmed down with a tranquilizer dart to the jugular! Crying jags, panic attacks (hadn't had one of those in over 10 years - well, until last week), uncontrollable anger..all the really fun stuff.... Talked to DH about this and told him I felt like meds would probably be a good thing.... apologized for my unpredictable behavior.... got a hug... cried some more (again)... and was told by DH that he would take a day off work and take me to the doc himself, if I needed his support. That last part made me laugh because I must have been REALLY bad for him to make that offer... LOL Anyway, going to the doc in a couple of weeks (as soon as I could get in)... thanks for all your support and encouragement ladies... :-)

Kara, see if your doctor thinks Diflucan might help. You can take it more than once for a recurring or persistent YI.

The healthiest thing is recognizing what is going on & how it effects others. To take control & want to get help is always a step in the right direction. My mother could care less what anyone thinks of her outbursts & cruel behavior. She does not think she needs medication of any sort. She only now believes that her "bug" problem was probably due to menopause, but doesn't see anything else as being serious. To respect those around you & want to get help w/ coping is the first step in making it through this time of life. It's even better to have a supportive DH to help you through it. I'm not that fortunate, so I battle it alone & then at the same time, help my younger sister to prepare for it. k

Manda, yes ... I was taking the acidophilus at least 2 hours apart from the abx. Donna, if I get a rebound YI this time, I'll be asking the doc about the Diflucan, as this is getting beyond ridiculous!

Ladies, I have use the yogurt for years for the yeast that can develop with antibiotics. Also can help prevent diarrhea from antibiotics. When considering HRT and menopause and all that goes with that there are many factors. When you will start, how fast it goes depends on genetics, and body weight. I read some info and if your are overweight it takes longer, but they syptons are not as severe. If your are thin, the menopause is shorter and the symptoms are more severe. I am more there is more research out there. What works for you best is what you should use and always consult your Dr.

Anyone ever leave a tampon in and forgot about it???? I was having some discomfort and thought I had a UTI so I started taking some cranberry pills. The fullness I was feeling didn't go away and there had noticed a slight odor. I thought I should check inside just to see and sure enough I found it. Got it out and was really shocked that I did this. I think it was because I don't use them as much as I have in previous years. I don't think I need to go to the Dr. because I'm not having a nasty discharge, but I do feel like it's swollen. Sorry if this is TMI. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and if it went into anything serious. Oh, and I had been intimate with dh. I think it was only in there for not even 2 weeks.

Have never forgotten one, but I did have one where the cardboard tube went in too. I didn't realize it until I went to take it out. That was a nasty mess.

ORIGINAL: CoeurdeLeon Joining this thread in the HOPE that it throws me into menopause. I was always irregular...minimum 45 days to a couple months between and horrible cramps. Since my daughter started I'm really regular now which means I get horrible, I-can't-move-but-being-still-doesn't-help cramps way more often. And I think they're getting worse. Other than that, no other symptoms. But I really, really, REALLY want to be done with this. Oh, I'm 44. CoeurdeLeon, Mine were always irregular - UNTIL I started taking Agnus Castus (Chasteberry) tablets. After 2-3 months, my periods were lighter and every 28-30 days. They've been like that for 3-4 years now, and getting lighter. It's great. No pain or discomfort except a little bit of tenderness on the first day (they only last 3 days).

Manda, thank you for this info! I did some brief online research and can't believe I never heard of this before. How much should one take at a time and is it daily?

The dosage for the brand I bought was one tablet daily, with water, at a mealtime. The description for the tablet was: " Each Kira Agnus Castus tablet contains 20mg of concentrated standardised extract of Agnus Castus (Vitex agnus-castus L.) equivalent to up to 240mg of dried fruit." There are a number of brands around - not sure if there is any major difference. The dosage might vary depending on whether it's the normal extract or the concentrated version. Btw, I think in the USA Agnus Castus is called Vitex. (Amazon.com sell 3 different brands of it)
