Using my definition of chick-flick, my 2 favorites are:

Chocolat with Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp
Last of the Mohicans with Daniel Day Lewis

chick here and I like all movies, except horror. A few years ago my friend was making fun of me because I thought the two best movies that came out that year were Enchanted and Transformers. Not quite on the same spectrum. Most of the movies in my top 10 are comedies from the 30's and 40's, but in the specific realm of "chick flick" my two most absolute favorite are Return to Me and Gone with the Wind.

I loooove Last of the Mohicans but I never considered it a chick flick.

I think 300 has a great love story. My girlfriend and I swoon when he looks to the queen for approval before shoving the Persian messenger in the bottomless pit.

ME, TOO!!!!

My husband defines "my" chick flicks as Long hair and swords!

I'd even consider 13th Warrior one my chick flicks...

I had a chick-flick night at my house a while back and told everyone to bring their favorite and we would watch the ones we had time for...

There was

How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days
Launching something-or-other
Pretty Woman (I really do hate this movie...)
Something To Talk About

dood...really?
I dragged out Lost Boys and Last of the Mohicans

The older I get, the more I cry and can watch chick flicks.

I watched the Temple Grandin movie on an overseas flight a couple of weeks ago, and then watched it coming back too. Cried happy tears both times.

I would have 300 and The Village.

I willingly watch a COMPLETE chick flick once a year for my mum for Mothers Day/her birthday and this year we saw Letters to Juliet.

*sigh*

I think I ticked off the woman next to me every time I exclaimed, "Are you kidding me!?!?!?!"

I love that one!!!

It's a staple "Cinderella" story: She's the chauffeur's daughter. They are the wealthy suitor brothers. "Sabrina" isn't seen as the best Billy Wilder film--story a little too clipped, the dialogue a little too flip--but it is a classic Audrey Hepburn movie, with Humphrey Bogart playing the laughs and the jeers with supreme cool. William Holden was a little long in the tooth as the playboy, and he thoroughly goes for broke. It all works in its sweet, romantic way.

Next on my list:

"The Lady Eve"

Just looked up "the lady eve" and am now putting it on hold at the library. It looks really good. I love screwball comedies and haven't seen much of Henry Fonda and Barbara Stanwyck...looking forward to it!

Totally agree. I want a BFF like Bonnie Hunt! The group of old men steal the show in this one though, IMO. I laugh so hard during all of their scenes.

"I once dated a girl with a club foot. I mean, she had the big shoe and everything."

"Aye, you'll be remembered in Purgatory for that one."

On Golden Pond.

Kathryn Hepburn + some famous actor and his daughter (sorry, not good on movies/actors/actresses).

I liked the Notebook too. That was entertaining.

I don't recognize any of the others mentioned above except for Father of the Bride (cute movie).

Great film!

Barbara Stanwyck is wonderful--I'm a huge fan.

If you have the opportunity check out these other favorites:
"Meet John Doe" with Gary Cooper
"Ball of Fire" with Gary Cooper
"Golden Boy" with William Holden
"Double Indemnity" with Fred MacMurray
"Stella Dallas" with John Boles
"The Strange Loves of Martha Ivers" with Kirk Douglas
"Sorry, Wrong Number" with Burt Lancaster

Pre-Code Movies--searing stories, but her character development and acting skills are very advanced for the time:
"Baby Face"
"Night Nurse"
